The movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was co-written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan. While Reitman, the son of Ghostbusters creator Ivan Reitman, directed the previous film Ghostbusters: Afterlife, this new installment has Kenan as the director. Kenan is known for directing animated and adventure films with supernatural elements, such as Monster House and City of Ember. His focus on practical effects and creating immersive, realistic settings was key in bringing Frozen Empire* to life, particularly as much of it takes place in iconic New York City locations crucial to the Ghostbusters aesthetic.
Frozen Empire will see the Spengler family joining forces with original Ghostbusters characters and new allies as they confront an ancient force that threatens to freeze New York City. The film is scheduled for release on March 22, 2024, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters
